After taking a year off from the comic to think about the story and practice art (and following another splendid class by Scott McCloud www.scottmccloud.com) I'm returning to UberCyberCats with a new book that will be story based. This is page 1, and it seemed a very appropriate first post.

Materials are 11x17" Bristol with Staedtler Lumograph pencils and Pigment Liners, and those new 'pro' and liquid ink Sharpies for blacks. For the Bristol I start with the 14x17" 400 series (smooth) and cut it down to size using a bandsaw.

Although I'm very happy with this drawing and feel that it really captures what I was trying to say, as always, I'm completely unresolved about this drawing - it doesn't feel like I drew it (and I'm not entirely sure now that I did). I always enter into kindof a fuque state when drawing, and I always feel very distant from the finished pieces. I'm starting the layout for page 2 now, but until I get into the heart of drawing it I'm sure I won't know what it's going to look like ^_^
